Introduction
What are Controls?
Controls are structured approval requirements that must be completed before a case can be approved in Dotfile. Controls help enforce compliance, reduce manual tracking, and increase the reliability of both manual and automated approval flows.
Types of Controls
-
Manual Controls:
Require a compliance analyst to mark the control as completed, optionally with a comment. Manual controls can be overridden (with audit log), ensuring flexibility for exceptional cases. -
Automated Controls:
Are completed automatically based on logic or code. They evaluate the case data in real-time (e.g., "Risk is set", "All UBOs identified"), and cannot be overridden by default.

Visibility & Reporting
- Audit logs show all control updates and comments for full traceability.
- Filter cases (coming soon) by control state to focus on cases needing attention.
- Dashboard indicators (coming soon) will summarize control completion across your cases.
Getting Started
- Go to Settings → Controls to define new controls.
- Edit your case templates to assign required controls.
- Review cases: controls will appear in the approval step, blocking approval until completed.
