Getting Company Information

Introduction

Having accurate data on your counterparties is a key pillar of business verification. This is why Dotfile is natively integrated with a range of business data providers that are connected to official registers around the world.

Getting accurate business data is useful for:

• Prefilling information during the onboarding to save the user time and limit errors
• Avoiding to rely only on declarative data to identify beneficial owners and legal representatives
• Compute a risk score that will take into account the country of incorporation, the legal form, the industry, and the recency of the company
• Access credit scores, negative news, justice decisions, past fillings, and official documents

How It Works

To create a company in Dotfile, you have to enter the country of registration and then search the company by name or registration number. Several company results will be suggested, pick the one you are interested in by clicking on its name. A company profile will be automatically downloaded and key information will be prefilled.

The prefilling also works in the Onboarding Flow.

Data Sources

Dotfile relies on several third parties for business data:

• INPI - Official company data provider by the French Government
• Pappers - Company data and official documents provider for France
• Companies House - Official company data provider by the UK Government
• Kompany by Moody’s- Worldwide company data coverage
• Kyckr - Worldwide company data and official documents coverage
• Creditsafe - Worldwide company data and official documents coverage

The depth of the data will vary according to the country. Dotfile is by default routing requests to the best provider depending on the company geography, but you can override the default settings and decide to use a specific source for a country.

This can be done from the Settings section, in the Advanced features tab.

From Creditsafe and Kyckr, please be aware the data provided is tiered, with varying costs.

Review the Information From Data Sources

The information purchased from the data providers is fully accessible. Additionally, extended data from other sources is available for purchase if required.

Compare Your Case Data With Data Sources

You will see a 'mismatch' indication if the case data is inconsistent with the sourced data, enabling you to check and resolve any discrepancies if necessary
